Είναι θλιβερή η εικόνα που δίνουν τα στελέχη της Νέας Δημοκρατίας ειδικά τις τελευταίες ημέρες. Μιλούν σαν να μην έχουν καταλάβει τι έχει συμβεί. Αντιλαμβάνονται την ήττα με παραπολιτικούς όρους και αγνοούν ότι η βασική αιτία ήταν η επικέντρωση στην διαχείριση και στις πελατειακές σχέσεις. Η πολιτική εκπαίδευση του Κώστα Καραμανλή

Πολλοί λένε ότι ο Κώστας Καραμανλής ήταν πολύ τυχερός όταν εκλέχθηκε το 2004. Όλα πήγαιναν καλά ή τουλάχιστον σχετικά καλά, επομένως τότε, το 2004, ήταν η ευκαιρία για τον Κώστα Καραμανλή να κάνει όλα αυτά που επαγγέλλεται τώρα για άλλα μια φορά. Η αλήθεια είναι ότι ο Κώστας Καραμανλής είναι ο πιο άτυχος πολιτικός της μεταπολίτευσης. Εκλέχθηκε σε μια περίοδο όπου η κατανάλωση με δανεικά έφτασε στο ναδίρ της και όπου η οποιανδήποτε σοβαρή προσπάθεια για σημαντικές αλλαγές θα ήταν ιδιαίτερα δύσκολη.

Είναι πάντοτε δύσκολο να πείσεις τους πολίτες ότι μια αλλαγή είναι αναγκαία και ειδικά όταν το σύστημα που πάσχει δείχνει να δουλεύει. Αυτή ήταν η πραγματικότητα το 2004. Παρά την κακή του τύχη ο κ. Καραμανλής, όπως και η μεγάλη πλειοψηφία των συμπολιτών του, δεν αντιλαμβανόταν την υποβόσκουσα κρίση. Αυτή η άγνοια της κρίσης για τον κ. Καραμανλή δεν ήταν τυχαία. Ήταν αποτέλεσμα της πολιτικής του εκπαίδευσης. Όποιος θέλει να δει από κοντά πως θα ήταν η πολιτική εκπαίδευση Καραμανλή δεν έχει παρά να συμμετάσχει σε μια πολιτική νεολαία του συγκεκριμένου ή παρόμοιου πολιτικού χώρου. Συνέχεια

Η επανάσταση του 1981 και τα αδιέξοδα του 2009

Το 1981 ο Ανδρέας Παπανδρέου δεν έφερε το κομματικό κράτος. Το κράτος στην Ελλάδα ήταν πάντοτε κομματικό. Επίσης το 81 δεν ήταν η χρονιά που για πρώτη φορά είχαμε κρατικό παρεμβατισμό στην οικονομία. Στην μεταπολεμική Ελλάδα ο κρατικός παρεμβατισμός θα είναι η υπερκομματικά αποδεκτή οικονομική πολιτική.

Τίποτα από όλα αυτά δεν ήταν καινούργια τον Οκτώβρη του 1981. Αυτό που συνέβη πριν από 28 χρόνια ήταν μια επανάσταση πολιτικών ηθών. Ότι πριν από το 81 θεωρόταν πάρεργο της πολιτικής , το 81 θα γίνει κεντρικό στοιχείο της. Η προσωπική και ομαδική τακτοποίηση στο δημόσιο ή από το δημόσιο, από ρουσφέτι γίνεται και εκλαμβάνεται ως ένα κοινωνικά αποδεκτό αίτημα. Έχουμε να κάνουμε με την μαζικοποίηση και την πλατιά κοινωνική αποδοχή μιας αποκλίνουσας πολιτικής κουλτούρας. Συνέχεια

The Greek Riots Explained

The Excuse: On December 6th a 15 year old school boy was shot dead by a policeman in Athens. Apparently, the policeman had not legitimate reason for doing so.

The Aftermath: For five days now groups of young men, self-described anarchists, have been spreading mayhem in the streets of Athens and other cities throughout the country. The damages are estimated to be more than €100 million so far. More than 400 stores and other businesses have sustained damages in Athens alone.

The Cause: Extremely high tolerance for illegal and anti-social behavior. The coverage in the international media has often cited Greece’s economic and social challenges due to the high involvement of government into the economy as the cause of the present crisis.

It’s a serious issue and it will be the cause of the most important problems that Greece will face in the future but it has little to do with the present crisis. Greece is one of the countries in the European south that had its democracy restored relatively recently, in 1974. In the period between 1967-74, the country was governed by a right leaning military dictatorship.

In the period before that most often the country was governed by rightist governments which often acted in an authoritarian way, usually harassing, arresting and imprisoning their leftist political opponents. With the restoration and full establishment of a democracy in 1974 the forces of the left (represented by the Socialists, Communists and the Democratic Left) started to gain the upper hand in politics. The gains of the left were not limited only to the political arena. As in the rest of Europe, the left started to dominate the universities, the media and other cultural institutions. The history of the country went for a rewrite and the cultural norms took a shape and form according to the interests and ideology of the new leftist establishment. Continue
